Wedding transport in Ile-de-France: coach or minibus?

Guest transport is one of the most underestimated aspects of wedding organisation. Yet, poorly managed transport can ruin the most beautiful celebration: guests running late, full car parks, driving under the influence on the way back… Hiring a coach or minibus with driver is the solution that guarantees peace of mind for the couple and safety for the guests.

Why plan collective transport for your wedding?

Safety first

This is the number one argument. After a festive evening with champagne and wine, it is unthinkable to let your guests take the wheel. A coach with driver brings everyone home safely, without stress.

Punctuality

A wedding is a well-oiled machine: ceremony at 3pm, cocktail at 4:30pm, dinner at 7pm. If your guests get lost on the way or are stuck in traffic, the whole schedule derails. A professional driver knows the routes and guarantees on-time arrival.

Comfort for everyone

Some guests come from far away, others have no car, others still prefer not to drive. Collective transport includes everyone and avoids carpool headaches.

Controlled budget

Compare the cost of a coach with driver to reimbursing dozens of Uber rides at the end of the evening. Coach hire with driver is often the most economical solution for a wedding of 50 or more guests.

Which vehicle for your wedding?

The choice depends on the number of guests to transport and the distance between the different venues of the day.

Small wedding (up to 19 guests): the minibus

The Mercedes Sprinter 19-seater is perfect for intimate weddings. Manoeuvrable, elegant and comfortable, it easily transports guests between the town hall, the church and the reception venue, even if the latter is located in a village accessible by narrow roads.

Medium wedding (20 to 30 guests): the 30-seater coach

The 30-seater coach is the most requested format for weddings. It offers a good balance between capacity, comfort and price. With its luggage hold, guests can easily carry gifts and belongings.

Large wedding (30 to 50 guests): the luxury coach

For large weddings, the Iveco Grand Confort 50-seater is the royal choice. With its spacious seats, air conditioning and audio system, it transforms the journey into a convivial and festive moment.

Combining vehicles

For very large weddings, or if guests are scattered across different points, it is possible to combine several vehicles: a minibus for close family and a coach for other guests, for example.

Key stages of wedding transport

Stage 1: the ceremony-to-cocktail shuttle

The most important journey. Generally short (15-30 minutes), it requires precise coordination with the photographer and wedding planner. The driver must be parked and ready to leave as soon as the ceremony ends.

Stage 2: the evening-to-return shuttle

This is the longest and most sensitive shuttle. It usually takes place between midnight and 3am. Plan one or two departures depending on your guests’ wishes.

Stage 3 (optional): the hotel-to-reception shuttle

If your guests sleep in a hotel far from the reception venue, a round-trip shuttle the next day for brunch is a much-appreciated bonus.

Practical tips for wedding transport

  1. Book at least 3 months in advance, especially for weddings from May to September
  2. Plan a site visit: provide exact addresses to the transporter so he can scope the access
  3. Designate a lead: a best man or close friend who will be the driver’s contact on the day
  4. Communicate to guests: include timings and pick-up points in your invitation or on your wedding website
  5. Plan the return: this is often the shuttle that gets forgotten in the planning
