Normandy D-Day Beaches coach excursion from Paris
Follow in the footsteps of history with our excursion to the D-Day Beaches in Normandy. LGD Paris transports you in a luxury coach from Paris to the most poignant sites of D-Day, for a day of remembrance and reflection.
A journey at the heart of History
On 6 June 1944, the Allied forces landed on the Normandy beaches, changing the course of World War II. Today, these beaches, cliffs and military cemeteries constitute a place of remembrance of unique emotional power.
The sites visited
Omaha Beach
The most famous of the D-Day beaches, Omaha Beach was also the deadliest. Stretching for several kilometres, this fine-sand beach now offers a peaceful landscape that contrasts with the violence of the combat on 6 June 1944. Remains and commemorative monuments line the shore.
Pointe du Hoc
Located between Omaha Beach and Utah Beach, Pointe du Hoc is a rocky promontory that American Rangers scaled under enemy fire. The bomb craters and German bunkers are still visible and bear witness to the ferocity of the combat.
Colleville-sur-Mer American Cemetery
The American Cemetery overlooks Omaha Beach and holds the tombs of 9,387 American soldiers. A line of pristine white crosses facing the sea, it is a place of profound solemnity.
Arromanches
The town of Arromanches preserves the remains of the Mulberry artificial harbour, an engineering feat that allowed the Allies to land troops and equipment after D-Day. The D-Day Museum recounts this exceptional technical adventure.
